“So Far Away” by Charli XCX marinates - thanks to the Paul White revamped production. XCX (Kiss-Charli-Kiss), in the video, which takes bits n’ pieces of Disney clips, still-like shots n’ blurry-visioned images of Charli XCXappearing like she’s in an amateur high-school talent show, flashes just as much as Cinderella throughout the entire video. Whether happy, angry, sad or predictably unstable, at first glance, the video looks cheap n’ lazily put together. But as the song transcends, it actually seems like a clever (still cheap) way to keep the attention of any teenage viewer because the imagery does seem like the gathered thoughts of a teenage girl’s swirling dreams, vulnerabilities n’ wild side, all blended on display. It’s a video shot w/out any behind the scenes option. Leopard leggings, platform shoes, neon flashiness, the punk aesthetic… OK, relive those carefree years absent of responsibilities, or w/out anticipating oncoming feelings of ♥break! Nobody does any chores or homework on this one.
